(Im)parcialidade no gênero notícia online : leitura e uso dos modalizadores discursivos

Abstract

The general objective of this dissertation was to analyze the results of the application of the pedagogical workshops in a class of the 8th Elementary School of a public school in Afogados da Ingazeira-PE, discussing the students' reflection from (im) bias present in the online news genre. This paper examines the following research questions: How are direct speech, indirect speech and second speech modalization used in online news published from November 26, 2018 to December 19, 2018, in the portals of Jornal do Commercio and Diário de Pernambuco? What is the contribution of these discursive modalizers to the construction of (im) bias intended by journalists? The research is justified by the importance of the media and technological resources in the classrooms in order to awaken in the student, in a comprehensive and participatory way, the critical and conscious view of the events that are reported by the press (FREIRE, 2003; VIEIRA, 2005). Methodologically, there is an action research (THIOLLENT, 1986) of qualitative character (MINAYO, DESLANDES & GOMES, 2012), using the inductive method (XAVIER, 2010). As a theoretical support, Antunes (2012, 2010, 2009, 2003) is adopted from the perspective of LA, Solé (1998) with reading studies, Maingueneau (2015a, 2015b, 2008, 2007, 2004, 1997) with the assumptions of AD for identification of impartiality and Chartier (2002), Marcuschi and Xavier (2004), Santaella (2004) with studies on technology and digital genres. The corpus of this research is organized from a questionnaire to the students about their use of the internet, the Action Plan of the workshops and the activities performed by the students during the experience of the workshops in the classroom. As for the research subjects, we have the teacher-researcher who performed the intervention and the thirty students of the 8th grade of elementary school. In general, the results revealed that the students identified that the two journalistic companies analyzed make use of the discursive modifiers direct speech, indirect speech and modalization in second speech and other elements (image and quotation marks) trying to escape from the speech they propagate. Therefore, we conclude that, based on the use of discursive modalizers and other constituent elements, there is partiality in the analyzed genre. This enables us to discuss the role of the online press and the reflection on neutrality and bias.
