Abstract: In recent decades, several works on the subject of slavery have been published, from more general analyzes to more recent studies that seek to analyze more specific aspects with a focus on the protagonism of the enslaved, which does not mean that the discussions have been exhausted. There are still many gaps, such as more detailed knowledge of captives' actions in combating slavery in specific regions and little expression in the number of captives. It is within this trend that this research is part of, and seeks to understand, in the specific region of Alagoas, the actions of black people in resisting slavery. This research is relevant, above all, because it sheds light on a region that is still little analyzed by historiography, given the focus on the provinces with the largest number of enslaved people until the end of the 19th century, especially those in the Southeast. We seek here to emphasize the historical dimension of structural racism and its discursive construction, which permeated and still guides our daily actions by defending the thesis that structural racism in Brazil is based on slavery. For this we used a variety of documentation, newspapers, magazines, speeches by the presidents of the province, letters, the Empire's legislation and freedom actions, and the choice of written documentary sources proved to be essential for the historiography of slavery in Alagoas. The crossing of these sources, as well as the “indications” they contain, showed us ways to think about the post-abolition scenario in 1888, questioning the idea of the “white race” as emancipatory and of black people as inferior, unprepared for freedom and for citizenship.

Abstract: The increasing use of technology has sparked global discussions on the creation of legislation addressing the protection of personal data and privacy in the digital sphere. In this context, several countries have sought to regulate data protection to ensure privacy and security of personal data. Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD), inspired by the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), introduced a data protection framework that applies to both the public and private sectors, promoting fundamental rights related to privacy and the free development of personality. Against this backdrop, this study aimed to investigate how the LGPD has been implemented at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), evaluating the actions taken, the challenges faced, and the institution's level of maturity regarding data protection, in order to propose measures to strengthen personal data protection at UFRPE. Methodologically, the research is characterized as applied, descriptive, and a case study, using documentary and field data. As for its approach, the study is of a mixed nature, combining qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results indicated that actions are being taken to promote personal data protection, despite existing challenges, especially those related to budgetary constraints. In this context, an intermediated level of maturity in relation to the LGPD was identified, which will require l long-term investments to consolidate a culture of personal data protection at UFRPE. It is concluded that the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) is being applied at UFRPE with consistent efforts by the institution to comply with the regulation. These initiatives demonstrate the institution’s commitment to building a culture of privacy and personal data protection.

Abstract: This study aimed to develop a system of formal descriptors and standard terminology which would permit the description of fruit macro-morphology for inclusion in multiple-use databases based upon information taken from the literature and the observation of iive fruits. Creation
of formal descriptors required that the object (the fruit) be broken down into its basic components (structures). This logical approach enabled clarification of the types of morphological data used in the literature and provided a basis for establishing usefiil descriptors. It would appear to have potential for application in similar studies. An analysis of a broad bibliographical review showed that plant features used to describe fruits and to distinguish both fruit 'lypes" and the morphological syndromes associated with fruit dispersion ali belong to a group of basic features (structural, qualitative and quantitative), commonly used in the description of biological organs and organisms. The structural features describing fruit type which are used extensively in the literature dealing with taxonomy, morphology and fruit dispersion were found insufficient to describe species adequately. It was necessary to include some of the descriptive features (both quantitative and qualitative) that are used in determining dispersion syndromes and/or in the taxonomic literature, in order to be able to distinguish among species. The usage of terms referring to
structure was delimited and criteria established for those creating or using sets of formal descriptors. 619 descriptors are proposed, divided into 6 categories: descriptors of fruit origin (4); descriptors of fruits arising from inflorescences (87); descriptors of finits arising from apocarpous gynoecia (99); descriptors of fruits arising from syncarpous gynoecia (191); descriptors of fruits arising from moncarpous gynoecia or free carples or mericarps (178) and descriptors of seeds (60). The descriptors included are appropriate for the creation of databases but can also be used directly for the objective description of fruits. The use of structured descriptors with a simple language and terminology can contribute to improving communication of fruit descriptions. Given that the users of the descriptors are diverse, including users and administrators of the database and curators of herbaria and germ plasm banks, taxonomists. ecologists and educationalists, modifications or additions to this set can be made using the model and approach presented. The descriptors here presented contribute to the literature by improving the understanding and description of
fruits and of the dispersion syndromes of neotropical Dicotyledons given that most of the available literature is about fruits of the temperate zones.

Abstract: Cowpea Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp. is a high economic outcome crop, mainly in North and Northeast regions of Brazil. One of limiting factors of crop is, the occurrence of diseases like Fusarium wilt, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. tracheiphilum (E.F. Smith) Snyder& Hansen, which demandsthe use of resistant cultivars as the main measure of control. The resistance of 30 cowpea germ plasms of to the ISO-PE isolate F. oxysporum f. sp. tracheiphilum, the effect of the inoculation methods deeping and root cutting on the cultivar BR-17 Gurguéia, and the resistance heritage in a F² population, composed of 386 individuals resulted from L-288004 andBR-17 Gurguéia cross were evaluated. Seven days old plants were inoculated with a conidia suspension, adjusted to concentration of 1 x 10⁶ conidia.mL-¹ in a side of the root system, after wound had been made on the plants. For the deeping method, plants cultivated in vermiculite, were removed and the roots immersed in aconidia suspension for five minutes, then they were planted in a pot containing esterilized soil. Assessment was carried out 25 days after germination, based on grade scale, disease intensity and severity. More over, the effect of the inducers ESM,BABA and Chitosan was verified on IPA-206 and BR-17 Gurguéia, which were applied to the soil five days after germination and inoculated with a 1 x 10⁶ conidia.mL-¹ suspension of ISO-PE isolate, and
evaluated through severity and disease control, 25 days after germination, by the grade scaleand disease intensity. In adition, the effect of these inducers was compared through ẞ-1,3-glucanase peroxidase and phenilalanina ammonium liase enzime activity, at five and 10 days after inoculation of the pathogen. By tissue analysis from root cuttings of BR-17 Gurgueia and IPA-206, induced and inoculated with the pathogen, following the methodology above,it was observed the effect of these inducers on lignification of the xylem as resistance structural mechanism and capacity of water conduction by the plant xylem, assessedat 17 and25 daysafter germination.Halfofthe30 evaluated germ plasms showed resistance to the pathogen, mainly L-288004 and L-190004 lines. Inoculation methods, deeping and wounds on roots, led to the same symptoms, although deeping method provided sooner symptoms. In the analysis of resistance heritage et was found frequency of 13 resistant to 3 susceptible plants, what pointed out a segregation of two independent genes,a recessive and a dominante one. Among the inducers, ESM provided 68,90%and 71,59% disease control for BR-17 Gurguéia and IPA-106, respectively. The enzyme activity, ESM revealed better results for ẞ-1,3-glucanase, peroxidase and PAL on
IPA-206 cultivar, at five and 10 days.BABA and chitosan differed from the control, for the PAL and ẞ-1,3-glucanase, respectively, on IPA-206. For the structural aspect, chitosan provided deposition of lignin inside xylem of both cultivars, at 17 and 25 days after germination. ESM applied to BR-17 Gurguéia induced higher water conduction when compared to the control, suggesting that the inducer did not interfer onmetabolism ofthe induced plants.
