A herança histórica cultural judaica no agreste pernambucano

Abstract

The work presents unpublished documents related to the Judaism found in the territory of an old town in the interior of Pernambuco. It also analyzes customs and memories of the local population related to food, mourning, the way of life and how they were introduced and mixed in the daily life of the population of Vila de Cimbres, district of the city of Pesqueira, Pernambuco. In this sense, the possibility of a route / destination of migration of new Christians to the mentioned region is also raised. The study makes use of the interdisciplinarity between history, archeology and architecture in the analysis of data and documents of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries whose content and importance echo in the current reality. The aforementioned Vila was chosen as reference for this study because it showed signs of the presence of new Jewish / Christian descent without this aspect never been approached. The choice is still based on its importance in the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
