Abstract: Bajado or Euclides Francisco Amâncio was born in Maraial, in 1912 and died in Olinda in 1996. The construction of his visual identity, as an artist, is shaped by the influence of Comics and Cinema. Posterist, letterer and painter, he had a vast production that ranged from the decoration of commercial establishments, in his incipient phase, to large works on canvas and eucathex. In his heyday, acclaimed by critics, with works in several exhibitions in Brazil and in the abroad, becoming a true celebrity of his time and leading popular culture in Pernambuco, especially in Olinda, as a stronghold of the world's artistic avant-garde. Having a great influence on carnival artistic productions in the city of Olinda, there is a risk of its importance falling into popular oblivion, which becomes the problem that drives this research, whose objective is, with historical documentation, to shed light on its importance. In addition, with the analyzes of current artistic productions referenced by his works, he continues his artistic legacy led by new social agents of the present time. To achieve this, we adopted a research method based on bibliographic review and documentary analysis in magazines, newspapers, videos, music, poetry and photographs, as well as the artist's own compositions. The result of this research was the contact with the wealth and breadth of cultural, symbolic and even social capital that both ratify the artist as an exponent of Pernambuco's pop culture and stimulate the spread of new productions guided by cultural industry references coined by the artist. With this, our conclusion is that it is neither hyperbolic nor presumptuous to say that Bajado constitutes a precursor of Pop Art in the Pernambuco scene and in the national artistic amalgam.

Abstract: The purpose of this thesis was to discuss the mediation dynamics involving the Funi-ô indigenous people and Father Alfredo Pinto Dâmaso, between 1918 and mid-1950, when a mediation bond was established, whose scope of interventions was reflected in the robust production of sources consultable, proving continuous performance until the highlighted period. The analysis of documents and oral records reinforced and ratified the contribution of relations between indigenous people and the mediator to the consolidation of an organized indigenous movement constituted from networks forged by indigenous people, supported by the actions promoted by the mediator. This argument is based on the triggering of new processes of ethnic recognition in the Northeast, involving indigenous peoples in Pernambuco, Alagoas and Bahia. Therefore, I sought to discuss indigenous roles, as well as the sociopolitical conditions that enabled access to the Indian Protection Service (SPI) and the construction of the Dantas Barreto Indigenous Post, in Águas Belas, followed by other indigenous posts in the aforementioned states. Also highlighting the mediator's perception of the processes narrated in documentation collected, archived and also produced by him. The discussions were based on reflections on the micro-historical model and the “indexical paradigm” proposed by Ginzburg (2007; 1989), the historiographical operation in Certeau (2015; 2014), the idea of scale games in Revel (1998 ) and in works that analyzed indigenous experiences in the Northeast based on processes of territorialization and mobilizations for ethnic affirmations, in Oliveira (1998, 1999), Dantas (2010) and Silva (2008), dialoguing with analyzes of documentary sources and oral memories of indigenous people assisted by the mediator.

Abstract: This work aimed to detect the changes and continuities in the cultural and structural aspects of the city of Itabaiana, in Paraíba, during part of the 20th century (1901-1920). The city is a constant object of study in the human and social sciences. The entire city structure that makes up the urban environment has problematizations to be worked on by various perspectives of science. By proposing, an approach to the city focused on Cultural History, the historian seeks to understand the details beyond what is seen superficially, it becomes necessary to question the object, that is, the city, in order to obtain details from the cultural sphere. It is not possible to isolate only an area of History, therefore, emphasis is placed on one of them, but the others are not excluded, a dialogue between these areas is necessary so that the narrative becomes consistent, in this way, the writing of a Cultural History of the city also brings social, economical and political elements. As much as the historiography of cities is full of studies on large urban centers, gaps are realized when it comes to smaller cities, like is the case of the research object of this work: The city of Itabaiana. Located in the Agreste of Paraíba, Itabaiana was popularized in the colonial period, the cattle fair that was established in the place attracted people and contributed to the formation of the urban center little by little. Soon, after the Proclamation of the Republic, the city became emancipated and with that, several changes were made in its structure, which affected not only the landscape, but also the way of experiencing the city, its daily life. The city of Itabaiana, as well as several other cities in Brazil, at the beginning of the 20th century, experienced the process of arrival of the signs of modern times, the train, electricity and, among other factors, evidenced the arrival of modernity in the city. With this new advent, everyday life is transformed, the city began to live at a faster pace, with new ways of behaving in the city emerged, imported from other large urban centers that already experienced the modern era. Primary sources for the research, photographs, newspapers and literary works of the time evidenced the daily life lived in the time frame worked. Such types of sources require the historian to observe them with caution, since they are imbued with subjectivities and intentions to be realized with the technical eye of the researcher. These subjectivities, when identified, become allied to the research on the daily life and the Cultural History of the city, which make it possible to verify the impacts generated, in the daily life, by the arrival of modernity in the city of Itabaiana in the beginning of the 20th century. As an advent, modernity was the main transformative agent of the landscape and daily life of the city of Itabaiana in the first two decades of the 20th century.

Abstract: In recent decades, several works on the subject of slavery have been published, from more general analyzes to more recent studies that seek to analyze more specific aspects with a focus on the protagonism of the enslaved, which does not mean that the discussions have been exhausted. There are still many gaps, such as more detailed knowledge of captives' actions in combating slavery in specific regions and little expression in the number of captives. It is within this trend that this research is part of, and seeks to understand, in the specific region of Alagoas, the actions of black people in resisting slavery. This research is relevant, above all, because it sheds light on a region that is still little analyzed by historiography, given the focus on the provinces with the largest number of enslaved people until the end of the 19th century, especially those in the Southeast. We seek here to emphasize the historical dimension of structural racism and its discursive construction, which permeated and still guides our daily actions by defending the thesis that structural racism in Brazil is based on slavery. For this we used a variety of documentation, newspapers, magazines, speeches by the presidents of the province, letters, the Empire's legislation and freedom actions, and the choice of written documentary sources proved to be essential for the historiography of slavery in Alagoas. The crossing of these sources, as well as the “indications” they contain, showed us ways to think about the post-abolition scenario in 1888, questioning the idea of the “white race” as emancipatory and of black people as inferior, unprepared for freedom and for citizenship.
